Many chefs shop at Good Egg. We recognize them because they almost always mumble and wear baseball caps. Also, they look tired, very, very tired. So we show them this book: it’s full of brightly coloured photos of delicious snack foods from around the world, with no recipes or words to weaken their weary eyes. Pics of vendors in their stalls and other makeshift food venues are overstuffed with all manner of enticing treats – salty fishes, molten coffee, glazed meats, pickled veg in jars. We stand back and watch tired eyes begin to brighten, and send our chef-customers off just a little bit more awake, and suddenly very hungry.
