The Art of Living According to Joe Beef

Joe Beef is the debut “cookbook of sorts” from the owner-operators of the celebrated Montreal restaurant, and like the name suggests, it’s meaty business…by which we mean that it’s elbow-deep in today’s vogue for rustic, old-fashioned meat dishes and comfort foods, but also that there’s a lot here to chew on. Joe Beef is more than just a collection of recipes (135, to be exact), it’s a Canadian history lesson, a travelogue of Quebec train journeys, instructions for building your own backyard smoker, making your own absinthe, and welding your own cake molds, along with a guide to Montreal for tourists and plenty of stories about the restaurant life from the brash, hard-drinking, but always charmingly eccentric authors.
